Parallels Desktop Edition Comparison

Thank you so much for this extremely helpful article, Schalk! I am currently looking to buy a Mac computer, and the Parallels Desktop sounds like the perfect fit for a seamless, versatile, and multifaceted experience! I love the fact that the application doesn’t slow down your PC’s boot time (Windows and Microsoft Office 365 have made my computer nearly crash at times), that we can use multiple operating systems simultaneously (I love Windows and Linux for different reasons), and the fact that it contains all of the essential business/editing/graphic tools that I use in my day to day life. I love a good deal, and seeing that you can get us the product for a fraction of the cost is an INSTANT attention grabber (Hello! Haha). I have saved your site, and will definitely share it with my friends and family. Great read! God bless you!
It seems like the release of Parallels Desktop 16 for Mac has come at just about the right time for you. The functionality you require seems to be a perfect match. I am sure you are super excited about the prospect of getting yourself a Mac. If you require to run Windows on your Mac and in need of a Windows 10 Pro license key then you know now where you can get this also on the cheap. Wishing you the very best of success with your Mac purchase.
Parallels desktop 16 seems to be the perfect choice for me as I am looking into buying a Mac PC. I really enjoyed reading this review and you have helped me decide if this parallels desktop 16 is suitable for me or not. It surely is! Thank you for helping us by sharing this amazing post with us.
Best Wishes
You are most welcome, Habib! I am glad that you found the information contained within in regards to Parallels Destkop 16 helpful and I am glad that I could assist in your buying decision.
I had never heard of running these systems together so this is completely new to me.
Can I ask what the purpose of this is?
Certainly! Parallels Desktop 16 provides you with a solution where you only have to purchase one machine to run multiple operating systems simultaneously e.g. Windows OS, Mac OS, Linux etc. So if I was to give one example. Let’s say you are in need to access programs that are only available on a Mac, but you are also in need to access native Windows programs. Now instead of having to buy a PC and a Mac (2 machines), you can now simply buy a Mac and run Windows software on your Mac. In short, Parallels Desktop 16 will allow you to have both the functionality of Mac OS and Windows OS, but only ever needing to buy one machine. Note that you can run more than just two operating systems at the same time, you can add Linux to the list too should you wish.
Utilising Boot Camp you are also able to run Windows OS on your Mac but you cannot run Windows OS and Mac OS at the same time. You will have to reboot your Mac and start up your machine in either Windows OS or Mac OS. One other great advantage of running multiple operating systems at the same time via Parallels 16 is that you can easily copy files over from Mac to Windows and vice versa by simply dragging and dropping files.
One other great advantage of Parallels Desktop 16 is that it gives you remote access to your Mac via Android or IOS devices.
Hi. I am someone who uses Windows PC all the time. I once bought a MAC, but didn’t like it at all. It just seemed complicated and I didn’t have the patience. So if I’m understanding this article, I am able to buy a MAC and still use it as a Windows operating system because of this software?
Yes you are perfectly correct in saying that. Parallels Desktop for Mac entitles you to run the Windows operating system and Mac operating system and even more operating systems like Linux for example simultaneously on your Mac. Boot Camp on the other hand is an Apple solution that allows you to run Windows operating system on your Mac but when running Boot Camp you have to start up your Mac in either the Mac operating system or the Windows operating system. With Parallels Desktop however you can have the best of both worlds as you are able to run multiple operating systems simultaneously.
HI Schalk,
I never knew you could run the windows and mac desktops together, this is really informative and could be very helpful. With working from home at the moment, I have some people who use macs and some people who use windows laptops. It can be difficult to open documents sent from a mac to a windows pc. But if we can run these in parallel, it will certainly help and make things a lot easier.
I will share this article with my boss and discus it with him, and see if we can invest in doing this. I will let you know what comes from that conversation and if we have any questions or issues then I will get in touch, if that is OK?
Thank you for sharing and keep up the great work.
All the best,
Tom
Tom, I myself am on a Mac but the organisation I am working for is Microsoft Windows based so I know exactly what you mean in regards to the compatibility issues in this regard. Working from home with some using the Mac operating system and others using the Windows operating system can certainly cause complications as you rightly pointed out.
The great advantage of running Parallels Desktop for Mac is that due to you having the ability to run both Windows OS and Mac OS simultaneously, you can very easily drag files over from Mac OS to Windows OS, whereas it becomes a very difficult task if you can only run one operating system at a time e.g. when accessing Windows OS on your MAC via Boot Camp.
Tom, your suggestion sounds excellent and will be great if Parallels Desktop 16 can provide your company with a solution. Questions are always welcomed and am always happy to help.
Wishing you and your company all the best!
It’s a really long time ago that I had Parallels! I don’t even know anymore what version it was. It must have been somewhere in 2002 or 2003 if I remember it correctly. I can’t say I was impressed back then with the performance so in the end I bought a Windows computer as well to run the windows programs on.
But the fact that they still exist nowadays must mean they have improved the program. And reading your review you confirm that. Good to know! There is so much more choice in programs for Windows than there is for Mac, although I would never trade my Mac for a Windows computer completely. Too much of an Apple fan. :-D
Thanks for reviving my interest, Schalk!
Hi Schalk. Thank you sharing this informative article. Your video explanation is so much more helpful to me as well as for the Parallels Desktop Edition Comparison. This is really a good idea to be able to use both Mac and PC simultaneously. Although I have never used a Mac before, I have seen my friend use it, and it looks very impressive to me.
Thank you so much for this review. I currently have a chromebook, but I am looking to buy a new laptop. I am satisfied with my current computer, but the bad thing is that I can’t download anything because it runs on android system. So the Parallels Desktop 16 will be on my list with future computers to buy.
